Dr.Bonnie Forman-Franco
Bonnie Forman-Franco, Au.D, FAAA, CCC-A
"The field of Audiology allows me to establish an ongoing professional and personal relationship with my patients. My clients require and appreciate the expertise I provide in hearing education, whether it is related to hearing instrument science or assistive listening device demonstrations. My ultimate goal is to help provide an individual with an enriched life experience through better hearing."
Bonnie is an audiologist of distinction with 39 years experience practicing Audiology. She received her Doctor of Clinical Audiology from the A.T.Still University of Health Sciences (home of the world's first osteopathic medical school founded in 1892), her Master of Audiology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She was elected into Mortar Board and was the chapter president.
Bonnie began her career at the Hearing and Speech Center of Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in 1972. She then went on to become Senior Audiologist in the Department of Otolaryngology, working with the chairman of the department, Dr. Allan Abramson. For the next ten years while in the department, she taught residents Audiology; ran the Audiology program for the director and full time otolaryngology staff; and was responsible for clinical diagnostic and research studies. Her research has been published in several journals and has presented her findings at the annual conferences of the Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the Society of Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children. Bonnie left the hospital 28 years ago to establish a private practice.
Bonnie considers her expertise to be in diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology. This includes advanced technology hearing aid fittings, counseling and follow up care, aural habilitation, and assistive listening device education. Frequently, at the request of her patients and community leaders, she speaks at local community groups to help further the importance of hearing healthcare education. In addition, Bonnie is a Preceptor to 4th year doctoral Audiology students, acting as supervisor and educator for the next generation of doctoral clinical audiologists.
Individuals who benefit by the use of their hearing aids, assistive devices and counseling, resulting in an improved quality of life for all parties, makes Bonnie feel much rewarded. However, in reality all of her private practice experiences are rewarding in their own light.
